Put your art on ethically produced bags printed at the Gold Coast and sewn in Melbourne.

The Bagart Journey so far…

Have you ever been to a gallery shop and marvelled at all the wonders there, and perhaps even taken home a few beautiful, gorgeous things! How many times have you honestly wondered who made these things, and how great it would be to see your own art available for your supporters to purchase?

We started to wonder and to ask the question: Why can’t art be used to create ethically and locally produced merchandise to support local artists? One reason is that it is difficult to source the fabrics, colours and print quality that were needed to replicate Australian art at a high standard. Another challenge is to find local makers who are skilled and available to sew our bags. Good news…after much searching, and experimenting, we are now able to offer a product at the quality that is needed, and at a price that is totally affordable!

Australian artists @trishtaitart and @meli_axford decided to take a chance to develop the first of our Bagart bags! Their stunning works proved perfect for testing and refining our development processes with real clients and to test our costing model, to keep our RRP reasonable and to allow room to grow and support local artists. Please check out their instagram to see the launch of their latest shows and works in progress…and of course their Bagart Bags!

The best news is that Bagart also supports local makers (sewing gurus) and printers (digitally printed fabrics). Our zips are imported from overseas as they are not produced locally. We don’t have any mark-up on our printing costs and pass these savings directly to our artists. Our transparent costing is 1/3 for materials, 1/3 for making and 1/3 to the artist!

We look forward to supporting more artists and designers to help make their art into usable, affordable bags that can help generate income to support their creative practice.

Complete our online form, it’s pretty easy, or send us an email to find out more and how to get started creating your own Bagart Bags…
